Is the Medium Weekend Lull Real? Or Am I Just Being Conspiratorial?

The weekends. The universal pause button where it’s the perfect time for relaxation, cafe brunches, and everyone forgets Medium exists. Is it just me, or does the entire platform go into hibernation the moment Friday clocks out? Every week, my stories go from “trending potential” to “who dis?” faster than I can type algorithm sabotage like my gym resolutions for the year.

I wrote two fantastic pieces this weekend —absolute bangers if I do say so myself (Tolstoy with a laptop, you know). And yet, come Saturday morning, I find myself refreshing stats like a desperate Tinder match waiting for a reply. It’s like they’ve been sent to a digital graveyard, destined to live as unclicked treasures. Nothing. Not a clap, not a view, not even a pity scroll.

At this point, I’m convinced Medium secretly programs the algorithm to take the weekends off. Maybe it’s a grand conspiracy: distract people during work hours with insightful essays and hot takes but on weekends? “Nah, let’s let them scroll Instagram while they make dolgana and wait for their sourdough bread batter to rise .”

The stats drop feels personal. I mean, I’ve poured my heart into these pieces. I’ve agonized over titles, edited until my fingers cramped, and even…
